A few months back I hired a FANTASTIC mentor! Eva Cherneff from Victoria, BC and I met via an amazing female photography group she co-founded. I saw she posted on Facebook that she was coming to Courtenay, I was there visiting my family, and had a few openings for sessions. I desperately needed some new portraits and contacted her. We met, she clicked haha, we clicked and I reached out and asked her if she would be interested in mentoring me from afar. She said yes! Whoop whoooppp!!! We mentor once a month, via Skype, her evening, my early morning. We discuss my recent work, areas I need to give attention to and more. One of my areas to focus on last month was working with light and posing and to do that I needed couples/models. This was a huge leap outside of my comfort zone. While I do speak a bit of Dutch I get super nervous and my perfectionist self worries that people are going to critique and judge my speaking. I put a blast out on a model group and that's where the beautiful people in the images on this blog post come in. Mike responded to my 'ad' and attached his friend, and former colleague, Natalia into our conversation. Natalia and Mike are not a couple! They are former colleagues and absolute gems! We were blasted with some pretty awful weather, mega wind, sideways rain and blowing sand. They powered through and we had some great laughs along the way! Mike just headed to Portugal for work and Natalia is getting ready for a backpacking trip through Asia. We exchanged travel stories and chatted about life. Natalia and Mike, thank you so much for being my models and powering through the weather. You both are so sweet! I wish you all the best in your travels! Thanks a million! xo
